What is yet to come is better than what has passed.
"You just keep pushing, you just keep pushing. I've made every mistake that could be made. But I just kept pushing" - Rene Descartes
Consider the above quote of the famous French philosopher Rene Descartes. How often you think that you've had a messed up life. If this and this wouldn't have happened then my life would have been great. How many times you've indulged in regretting on your mistakes. How often you complaint about unpleasant situations that if such and such haven't happened to me then I will be having a fun life.
But do you ever consider what are the negative consequences of such arguments. It makes you feel upset, depressed and it creates ample amount of anxiety that is enough to trigger you more negatively and make your life worse. Crying over the split milk is of no use. Whatever has happened has already happened and cannot be changed by any amount of worrying.
Instead of dying over the past learn to live for the present that can affect the future. No matter how dreadful moments you've gone through in Life, it all passed. No matter how joyous moments you've lived in your life, it all passed. What is Left is only present so focus on it. Because whatever is yet to come is best, so do you like to be unprepared for that best moment? Would you like to miss your bright future because of your gloomy past? Obviously not, so forsake the past and try focusing on present. This is how you'll grow with integrity. Recognise the pattern, behaviour or habit for which you've suffered a lot in Life, then change it. Do not worry too much about your mistakes but recognise the 'cause' for those mistakes and then in present try to remove those cause or replace them with a better cause that ultimately leads to a positive result.
For example, you've smoked some cigarettes in the past that now making you feel guilty, so do not dwell too much on the fact of your smoking but try to figure out why you've smoked. Try to trace the 'cause'. of your smoking. Suppose You find that you've smoked because you were depressed at that moment and now whenever you are stressed and in depression you smoke and now it comes in your habit. So now what you have figured out is that it's your stress that causes you to smoke. So next step is try to find alternative positive ways to release stress. No doubt stress is a part of our Life, and a small stress is good to motivate us to do work. But people usually have huge amount of stress that must be broken down.
